Cookie policy

Updated 07.09.2026

The purpose of this policy is to help you understand how this website uses cookies, what they are for, and the options available to you for managing them.

Who owns this website

The cookies and local storage described below are installed, with your consent where required, by the entity that owns this site.

What they are and what they do

What are cookies? A cookie is a file downloaded onto your computer, tablet, phone or other device (hereafter, your device) when you visit our website.

Generally, and depending on their type, cookies make it possible to store and retrieve information about your visit and your browsing habits, and to recognise you as a returning visitor, which can make your next visit easier and the site more useful.

Cookies may be "first-party" — sent to your device from a domain managed by Kimobox — or "third-party" — sent from a domain managed by another entity, such as our analytics provider. They may also be "session" cookies, which expire when you leave our site, or "persistent" cookies, which remain stored for a longer period.

What types of cookies does this website use?

Technical cookies: these are necessary for the website to work properly, for example for the navigation menu to work. They do not require your consent.

Analytics cookies: these allow us to track and analyse how people use our website (for example, the number of pages visited, where the visit came from, or how long it lasted). We use Google Analytics 4 for this purpose. These cookies are only installed if you give us your consent through the notice shown on your first visit.

Contact form protection (reCAPTCHA)

The contact form is protected with reCAPTCHA, a Google service that tells people apart from automated submissions. Without it, a contact inbox left open on the internet fills up with junk within days.

To work, reCAPTCHA loads a component hosted on Google servers and stores a cookie belonging to that service in your browser. Google also receives your IP address and data about your interaction with the page, and uses them to decide whether the request looks automated. This processing is governed by Google's terms and privacy policy.

This is a security measure necessary to provide the service you yourself request by sending us the form, and it only comes into play on the pages that contain it: if you are not going to write to us, reCAPTCHA plays no part in your browsing.

Local storage: what we keep in your browser

Besides cookies, this site keeps two items in your browser's local storage. They are not cookies in the strict sense: unlike a cookie, they are not sent to the server with every request, so the information never leaves your device. Neither of them allows you to be identified or is combined with other data.

Both are technical in nature and respond to something you did — accepting the notice, marking a chapter — so they require no additional consent. If your browser has local storage blocked, the site still works normally: the cookie notice will reappear on every visit and the Academy will not remember your progress.

You can clear your reading progress whenever you like using the "Clear all my progress" button on the Academy home page, or delete both items at once by clearing the site data from your browser settings.

Allowing, withdrawing and deleting cookies

The first time you browse our website we tell you about our use of cookies through a notice where you can accept or refuse the installation of analytics cookies. Until you give your consent, Google Analytics is not loaded and no third-party cookie is installed.

You can change your decision whenever you like using the button below: withdrawing permission takes no more effort than giving it, and the notice will appear again so you can choose afresh. Bear in mind that the decision is stored in your browser's local storage, so clearing only your cookies will not undo it.

You can also allow, block or delete cookies through your browser settings; bear in mind that if you block them all you may not be able to reach some sections of the site.

Google also offers a browser opt-out add-on that prevents your data from being used by Google Analytics on any website:
