Context of the organization

The OH&S system starts by understanding which working conditions and surroundings affect safety, and which interested parties —workers, labour authorities, insurers— hold expectations of it.

Covers working conditions, the company's activity and external factors —regulation, sector, local accident rates— that affect the health and safety system.

Interested parties and their requirements

Workers and their representatives, labour authorities, insurers, contractors... you need to identify which ones have relevant requirements, including worker consultation and participation, explicitly required by the standard.

Scope of the OH&S management system

Defines which workplaces, activities and workers —your own and third parties operating under the organization's control— the system covers.

  • An OH&S context document reviewed annually
  • A list of interested parties with their requirements, including worker consultation
  • A scope statement listing the workplaces covered
  • A process map with the associated workplace risks
