Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before getting started

Which records does SGE 21 require?

Those the standard calls for with wording such as “maintain evidence” or “keep a record”: the results of stakeholder engagement (6.1.7), equality actions (6.2.2), the results of the work-life balance plan (6.2.4), sustainable consumption actions (6.3.6) and internal audit records (6.1.11), among others. It also requires documents such as the sustainability policy, the code of conduct and the supplier approval methodology.

Which version of SGE 21 is current?

The October 2024 version, which Foretica publishes on its website together with a comparison against the 2017 one. According to Foretica, organisations that already had the 2017 version in place face a very light transition.

Can just part of the company be certified?

The scope can be limited to business units, regions or sites, but no requirement may be excluded, and partial certification of a location for specific activities is not allowed.

How does it relate to ISO 26000?

ISO 26000 is guidance that cannot be certified; SGE 21 is a requirements standard that takes ISO 26000 among its reference documents and allows certification. Many records in this section have a good-practice counterpart in the ISO 26000 one.
