Every chapter of ISO 22000 explained

ISO 22000:2018 shares the high-level structure of ISO 9001 — context, leadership, planning, support, operation, evaluation and improvement — and combines it with the seven HACCP principles of the Codex Alimentarius. Its distinctive feature is the double PDCA cycle: one for the management system and an operational one that plans, applies and verifies hazard controls.

This path devotes two chapters to clause 8, because that is where the audit is won or lost: one on prerequisites, traceability and emergencies, and another on hazard analysis, the control plan and its verification. If your customer asks for FSSC 22000, everything that follows still applies: the scheme adds requirements on top of this standard, not instead of it.

Clauses are cited using the numbering of the 2018 edition, which is the current one. ISO is working on a third edition, still at draft stage; when it is published it will have its own transition period.
