GMP+ internal audit and system verification
Checking, at least once a year, that the feed safety system is applied as written and that HACCP is still working.
In one sentence
The GMP+ internal audit and verification checks through a planned programme that all the requirements of the applicable B document and of feed HACCP are met — hazard analysis, monitoring, suppliers, carry-over, transport, traceability — and that the results are analysed for improvement, as GMP+ B1 requires within system verification.
- Type of information
- Mandatory record Record required by GMP+ B1 (system verification and improvement)
- Who fills it in
- Trained internal auditor In-house staff independent of the area, or an external auditor
- When
- At least once a year More often for processes with findings or changes
- How long it is kept
- As set by the scheme and the law Regulation (EC) 183/2005 requires records that allow traceability, and the GMP+ documents set minimum retention periods: check them in the current version of the B document that applies to you.
What the standard requires
What GMP+ demands and what it leaves to your judgement
GMP+ requires the feed safety system to be audited internally in a planned way, with a scope covering all the requirements of the applicable B document, and HACCP to be verified: that controls work, that monitoring is carried out and that the hazard analysis is up to date.
Auditors must be competent and independent of what they audit. Findings are recorded, handled as nonconformities and feed into management's review of the system.
The frequency is set by the scheme or the company; what certification auditors expect is full coverage at least once a year.

- The audit carried out by whoever manages the system.
- No specific verification of HACCP.
- Findings with no action and no deadline.
- The audit never reaches management review.
